Emergency Racking Repair and Replacement
Book Repair Work
Fast, expert repairs to keep your warehouse safe and operational — no delays.
Racking systems and barriers are constantly under attack by forklift trucks, and damage inevitably occurs. While preventing pallet rack damage may be possible; many facilities struggle with high traffic, the need to move stock in a timely manner, and staff skill levels that impact racks and barriers. This can lead to major safety problems.
While some types of rack damage are more urgent than others, repairing any pallet rack damage is a safety requirement.
You need our professional racking repair technicians to quickly assess and repair the damage. You must act to minimise downtime and disruption to your warehouse operations and ensure the safety of your personnel.

What is deemed rack and barrier damage?
If you observe any of these issues, you need to take action for repairs on the impacted barriers and pallet racks. These are considered red alert damage:
- Bent Uprights: Upright columns are the backbone structure of your racking system. If you observe any warping, leaning, or twisting of these vertical supports, this requires immediate professional repair.
- Deformed Beams: The horizontal beams support your inventory and bear a significant load. Be alert to any sign of sagging, bending, or, in severe cases, cracks in the beams.
- Floor Anchor Disruption: Repairs are immediately required when anchors that secure your racking system to the warehouse floor are observed as loose or damaged.
- Dislodged or Missing Components: Damaged clips, missing bolts or loose connections can compromise the structural integrity of your racking system.
- Inventory Damage: Damaged or poorly stacked goods on the shelves can indicate a collision or structural issue with the racking system.
- Barrier Damage: End barriers are broken or bent.
Safety Protocols for Handling Damaged Racks
Immediately implement safety measures if any of the issues mentioned above are identified. To begin, secure the area and relocate employees away from the pallet racks that have been damaged. If the rack collapses, it is possible to restrict access to the area to prevent incidents. Deploy caution tape, signage, and barricades to notify employees to steer clear of the vicinity.
After ensuring the safety of your employees, it is time to remove the inventory. Inventory can be stored in adjacent sections or any convenient location within your facility. Racks that are damaged should not be utilised, particularly when dealing with large inventory items.
Contact Audex Group immediately to have damaged racking repair or barrier repair works undertaken, thereby minimising downtime and disrupting your warehouse operations.
Understanding Racking Damage Categorisations.
It is important to understand the standards for racking safety. SEMA Storage Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) is the international standard for the safe design, installation, and use of warehouse racking systems. Racking damage is coded as a RED, AMBER, or GREEN risk. The following actions should be taken based on the category you identify.
Red Risk Damage – requires immediate action.
- The summary above identifies a critical level of damage.
- The racking should be promptly offloaded.
- The racking should be isolated from future use until repair work is completed.
- Repair work typically entails the replacement of the damaged component.
Amber Risk Damage – requires action as soon as possible.
- The area in question is significant enough to warrant remedial work but does not necessitate immediate offloading.
- The load should not be reloaded onto a damaged component until repairs have been completed.
- The rack should be isolated after offloading to prevent use until repairs have been completed.
- The repair work should be completed within 1-2 weeks. Otherwise, the harm is reclassified as a red risk, necessitating immediate action.
Green risk damage – requires ongoing surveillance.
- Does not necessitate immediate repair or a reduction in the rack’s carrying capacity, and is regarded as secure and functional
- Should be designated for specific re-examination during subsequent inspections.
- The racking system should be considered at risk if this threshold is exceeded.
